SYM MUN 2, 2011

In pursuance of honing the diplomacy skills of students and setting those in simulated settings of various International Committees, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA organised the Second Edition of Model United Nations – Intra Sym Mun 2 in collaboration with the UN Information Center of India and Bhutan on September 30- October 1, 2011. Ms. Rineeta Naik, Assistant Information Officer of U.N, graced the occasion by being a Chief Guest. While addressing the students, she emphasized on how important it is to make mistakes as they are the keystones to progress. She further articulated on how we can learn from the mistakes we commit and strive for success in future. In contrast to the First Edition of SYM MUN held in 20th-21st May 2011, this time the event was bigger as it comprised of 4 committees of United Nations viz. General Assembly, Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and theHuman Rights Council. The Agenda of the committee was as follows: General Assembly-Nuclear Terrorism; OPEC- Economic Implications of Humanitarian Intervention, War and Politics; Security Council- Conflict in the Arctic Region; and Human Rights Council- Immigration and Sexual Violence.

   

Second Nascent Moot Competition, 2011 | October 16, 2011

The Second Nascent Moot Court Competition was held on October 16, 2011. Workshop on ‘Oral Skills and Courtroom Mannerisms’ | October 9, 2011

The third workshop for moot court training took place on Sunday, October 9, 2011 on ‘Oral Skills and Courtroom Mmannerisms’ by Mr. Adab Singh Kapoor, Associate, DSK Legal, New Delhi. The session was a fully interactive one where the learners got to know the skills about how to behave and speak in a courtroom scenario. Mr. Adab Singh Kapoor also let out several minute secrets to tackle and dodge past tricky situations of rebuttal passed by the opposition in the moot court competition.

   

Workshop on ‘Memorial Drafting’ | October 8, 2011

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Harjot Vohra, Tax Consultant, Ernst and Young, New Delhi; and Mr. Rony O’John, Associate, Economic Laws Practice, New Delhi wherein the students were taught about the basic guidelines for the drafting of memorials which forms the basics of moot court competitions which gave them detailed idea about drafting a brief/memorial. The beauty of this presentation was explanation given by the speakers in simple legal language.
