Moot Courts

Mooting as an activity aims to inculcate and improve the research, presentation and argument talent into students so as to equip the budding pleaders with all the court room etiquettes, research experience and advocacy skills. At Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, it is a key co-curricular activity wherein the presentation skills and talents in argument of students are screened and further notified about their level in the competition on regular basis. This initiative is well supported and effectively carried out by dedicated Moot Court Society. Success of effective learning through moot court activity is evident from the following performances of mooters selected and thereafter participated in various national/international moot court competitions:

15th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2019 (South Asia Rounds): Organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross, Geneva at Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal - December 10-12, 2019

Purnima Mathur, Fourth Year Learner, Diksha Joshi, Third Year Learner, and Amira Dhawan, Second Year Learner, were invited to participate in the Regional Rounds of the prestigious after having won the India Rounds in September 2019 at Indian Society of International Law (ISIL). The Team entered into the Finals of these Regional Rounds and was adjudged ‘Winners’.

Team SLS-NOIDA has won the ticket to Asia-Pacific Rounds, 2020 and would represent South-Asia at the Asia-Pacific Rounds. Purnima Mathur received the 'Best Speaker Award' shared with the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

8 teams from across South Asia; 2 teams each from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan, were invited to participate in the Regional Round. The moot compromis was based on contemporary challenges of International Humanitarian Law with respect to nature of armed conflicts and jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court over non-state parties in trans-boundary crimes.

8th IBBI-National Corporate Moot Court Competition, 2019: Oganised by National Law Institute University, Bhopal from December 6-8, 2019

Pranav Dwivedi, Shovit Betal, and Uditanshu Singh, Third Year Learners, participated in the competition and entered into the Quarter-finals. Shovit Betal won the 'Best Speaker Award'.

A total number of 18 teams from across India, including several National Law Universities, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and Companies Act, 2013.

3rd Surana & Surana RGNUL International Law Moot Court Competition: Organised by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Punjab in association with Surana & Surana International Attorneys – November 15-17, 2019

Varalika Sengar, Ananya Singhal and Ritam Khanna, Second Year Learners, entered into the Finals and were adjudged ‘Winners’. The team also won the 3rd Best Memorial Award. Ms. Ritam Khanna was awarded the ‘Best Student Advocate Award’ and Ms. Varalika Sengar won the ‘2nd Best Student Advocate Award’. The team won trophies, Winner’s Certificates and a cash prize of INR 15,000. Ms. Ritam Khanna won a trophy and cash prize of INR 5000.

A total of 16 teams from across India, including National Law Schools participated in the said competition. The moot compromise was based on International Humanitarian Law and Law of the Seas.

G. D. Goenka ClArb (India) International Commercial Arbitration Competition: Organised by School of Law, G. D. Goenka University, Haryana, India – November 8-10, 2019

Harshvardhan Singh, Feba Bovas and Kushagra Jain, Second Year Learners, participated in the said competition and were adjudged ‘Quarter-Finalist’.

A total number of 22 teams, including National Law Schools, participated the said competition. The moot proposition involved matters related to International Commercial Arbitration and Contract Law.

11th CCI–Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by the Hindyatullah National Law University, New Raipur, Chattisgarh – October 18-19, 2019

Ananya Singh, Fourth Year Learner, Anushka Agarwal and Varun Madan, Third Year Learners participated in the court competition and reached the ‘Quarter-Finals’.

A total number of 28 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on Competition Law, Big Data & Intellectual Property Law.

8th Prof. V S Mani International Law Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Seedling School of Law (Jaipur National University), Jaipur - October 18-20, 2019

Apekshit Raj Singh, Tanmay Diwan, Fourth Learners and Harsh Gupta, Third Year Learner participated in the competition, entered into the Finals and were adjudged ‘Runners-Up’. The team won a trophy, Runners-Up Certificates and a cash prize of INR 15,000.

A total number of 36 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on the Case concerning Refugees Settlement on Mars and Antarctica that deals with the issue of outer space, Refugee Convention and Law of Treaties (Antarctica Treaty System).

6th NUALS International Maritime Law Arbitration Competition, 2019: organised by National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi - October 18-20, 2019.

Mansi Jain, Ridhima Sharma, Fourth Year Learners and Aviral Srivastava, Third Year Learner, participated and entered into the ‘Semi Finals’. The team also won 'Best Memorial Award' at the competition. The team was awarded a Trophy for this award. They also received Internship Opportunity at renowned Maritime Law firm 'Bose & Mitra & Co., Mumbai' and cash prize of INR 15,000.

A total number of 27 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on International Commercial Arbitration and Maritime Law.

13th Pro Bono Environ National Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by School of Excellence in Law, the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai – October 18-20, 2019

Aiyushi Sahani, Parth Sharma, Fourth Year Learners and Rhythm Katyal, Third Year Learner, participated in the competition, entered into the Finals and were adjudged ‘Runners-Up’.

A total number of 36 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on the International Environment Law and Space Debris.

9th Amity International Moot Court Competition (Paperless), 2019: Organised by the Amity Law School, Noida, Amity University Uttar Pradesh – October 18-19, 2019.

Aakash Jeph, Fourth Year Learner, Shovit Betal and Madhur Soni, Third Year Learners participated in the competition, entered into the Finals and were adjudged ‘Runners-Up’. The team was also awarded the Best Memorial Award.

A total number of 24 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition which was conducted in paperless format. The moot problem was based on the International Humanitarian Law dealing with Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes. The team won Trophies, Runners-Up & Best Memorial Certificates and cash prize.

9th ILNU National Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Gujarat in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India – October 10-13, 2019

Vidyul Dayal, Third Year Learner, Saraswati C. Rawandale and Navya Nanda, Second Year Learners participated in the competition and reached the ‘Semi Finals’. The team also won the ‘Best Memorial Award’.

A total number of 24 teams from across the country participated in the competition, where the moot proposition was based on the intersection of big data and competition law.

Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition, 2019 (North Rounds): Organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys and the Law School, University of Jammu – October 4-6, 2019

Sana Banyal, Uditanshu Singh and Pranav Dwivedi, Third Year Learners participated in this trial advocacy competition and were awarded the ‘Fourth Best Memorial Award’.

A total of 16 teams participated in the competition. The competition was based on a Sessions Trial format with students conducting examination in chief and cross examination on the charges of abetment to suicide.

5th Manipal Ranka National Moot Court Competition: Organised by the Manipal University, Jaipur in association with Ranka Foundation – September 28-30, 2019

Shubhansh Thakur, Third Year Learner, Shefali Priya and Sakshi Mody, Second Year Learners entered into the finals of 5th Manipal Ranka National Moot Court Competition, 2019, and were adjudged ‘Runners-Up’ of the competition. Shubhansh Thakur also won the ‘Best Student Advocate Award'.

A total number of 25 teams from all over the country participated in the competition. The proposition was based on varied aspects of corporate and commercial laws, like Prevention of Money Laundering, Arbitration, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, Contract Law, and Drugs and Cosmetics Law.

26th M.C. Chagla Memorial Government Law College National Moot Court Competition: Organised by the Government Law College, Mumbai in association with the Chief Justice M.C. Chagla Memorial Trust – September 28-29, 2019

Meerika Bareja, Fourth Year Learner, Harshil Wason, Third Year Learner and Aniruddha Ghosh, Second Year Learner entered into the finals of the competition and were adjudged ‘Runners-up’.

The competition was open to top 16 teams invited from law schools across India. The proposition was interplay of religious freedom and right to privacy under the Constitution of India, and the matter was a Writ Petition to be adjudged by the Supreme Court.

19th Henry Durant Memorial National Moot Court Competition: Organised by International Committee of Red Cross and Indian Society of International Law - September 19-22, 2019 at New Delhi

Purnima Mathur, Fourth Year Learner, Diksha Joshi, Third Year Learner, and Amira Dhawan, Second Year Learner entered into the finals of and was adjudged ‘Winners’ of the competition. The team also won the ‘Best Memorial Award’ (tied with Nirma University).

In the India National Round, 45 teams from across India participated in this prestigious moot. The proposition was based on the International Humanitarian Law including cyber warfare in an International Armed Conflict being adjudicated by the International Criminal Court.

SLS-NOIDA will be representing India at the Regional Rounds of the competition wherein top two teams each from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Iran and Pakistan compete to qualify for the Asia-Pacific Rounds of the moot.

7th National Moot Court Competition: Organised by Institute of Management Studies, Unison University, Dehradun, September 19-21, 2019

Mannika Gupta, Third Year Learner, Ayushi Sinha and R. Dhrusha Rupinya, Second Year Learners participated in the national level comepetition and reached the ‘Quarter-Finals’.

A total number of 35 teams from across India participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.

9th UFYLC Ranka Moot Court Competition: Organised by the University of Rajasthan in association with Ranka Foundation – September 14-16, 2019.

Ishu Gupta, Bhavyanshi Dariya, Third Year Learners and Naimish Tewari, Second Year Learner entered into the Finals and adjudged ‘Winners’. The team also won the 'Best Memorial Award'.

A total number of 38 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on the constitutional validity of the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 and Aadhaar Regulations.

Team was awarded with Winner’s Trophy, Certificates and cash prize of INR 10,000/-. Team also won the Best Memorial Award and awarded with Trophy and cash prize of INR 2,500/-.

10th Christ National Moot Court Competition: Organised by School of Law, CHRIST Deemed to be University - September 13-15, 2019.

Aiyushi Sahani, Parth Sharma, Fourth Year Learners and Rhythm Katyal, Third Year Learner, participated and entered into the ‘Semi-Finals’ in the National Level competition.

A total of 42 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition. The moot problem was based on the constitutional validity of the amendment to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act,1967 and Section 69 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

8th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition: Organized by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala - August 16-18, 2019

Akshita Upadhyay, Raghav Dembla, Fifth Year Learners and Amrita Dubey, Fourth Year Learner entered into the Finals of the competition and were adjudged ‘Runners-Up’.

The moot problem was based on the constitutional validity of Exception 2 to Section 375 of the IPC, 1860 that deals with the issue of marital rape. A total number of 46 teams from across India, including several National Law Schools, participated in the said Competition.

3rd NLS Animal Protection PIL Competition, 2019: Organised by the Society for Non-Human Persons, National Law School of India University at Bangalore - April 19-21, 2019

Mohammad Ahzam, Purnima Mathur (Third Year Learners) and Oshi Verma (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged Runners-Up. Purnima has also won the Best Speaker Award. The team received a trophy, certificates and cash prize of INR 15,000/-. Additionally, Purnima won a trophy and cash prize of INR 7,500/- as best speaker.

The competition was based on Animal Welfare Law and Constitutional Law. 48 teams participated nationally and only 16 teams qualified for Oral Rounds upon clearing the Memorial Selection Round.

3rd Surana & Surana and KLE Law College National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys and KLE Society’s Law College, Bangalore – March 29-31, 2019

Sanya Gangar, Akriti Gupta (Third Year Learners) and Shrishti Vatsa (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged octa-finalists.

1st CNLU National Moot Court Competition on Cyber Law: Organised by Chanakya National Law University, Patna - March 29-31, 2019

Ashabari Basu Thakur, Aman Shankar and Anand Kamal entered this competition based on Cyber Law alongside 23 other teams from across India. Aman Shankar was adjudged Best Speaker and Ashabari Basu Thakur was adjudged 2nd Best Speaker at the Competition. They won trophy and Certificates. Aman Shankar also won a cash prize of INR 7,500/-. The team however, could not proceed beyond the preliminary round.

Law Centre - II B.R. Trikha Memorial Delhi NCR Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Law Centre II, Faculty of Law, Delhi University - March 30, 2019

Arif Hussain (Second Year Learner) and Ishita Thakur (Third Year Learner) entered into the competition and were adjudged Runners-Up. The team won a cash prize of INR 10,000/- alongwith a trophy and Runners-Up Certificates. A total of 18 teams from Delhi and NCR participated in the competition.

Kshan-14th National Trial & Appellate Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by G H Raisoni Law School, Nagpur - March 15-17, 2019

Aman Chachan (Fourth Year Learner), Chirag Hasija & Shobhit Diwakar (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition and were adjudged as Quarter-finalist. The team also won Best Memorial Award with a cash prize of INR 3,500/-. Aman Chachan also won 2nd Best Advocate Award with a cash prize of INR 5,000/-.

The Moot Problem was based on Criminal Law where teams from 20 law schools competed in a Sessions Trial format in the preliminary rounds and in the Criminal Appellate format at the advanced rounds.

10th NLU Antitrust Law Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by National Law University, Jodhpur in association with Khaitan & Co. & the Competition Commission of India - March 15-17, 2019

Meerika Bareja, Shristi Borthakur (Third Year Learners) and Vaibhav Jeswani (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged as Quarter-finalist. The Moot Proposition was based on Competition Law. 38 teams from law schools across the country participated in the competition where our team was one of the top eight.

Sir Syed & Surana & Surana National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys and Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh - March 15-17, 2019

Manthan Dixit (Fourth Year Learner), Sanjri Misri and Anvi Jha (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition where the moot proposition was based on criminal law. Sanjri Misri won the Third Best Student Advocate Award at the competition.

3rd Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by SVKM's Narsee Monji (NMIMS) Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, Mumbai - March 15-17, 2019

Arjun Sahni (Second Year Learner), Jheel Bhargava & Sargun Sahni (Third Year Learners) participated in the national level competition and were adjudged as Winners. The team has won INR 50,000/- as cash prize. Arjun Sahni also won Best Speaker Award and a cash prize of INR 10,000/- for the same.

The Moot Problem was based on aspects of International Data Privacy Laws to be argued before the International Court of Justice. 28 teams, including national law schools, participated in the competition.

1st TNNLU National Med-Arb Competition, 2019: Organised by Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli in collaboration with Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre, Chennai - March 8-10, 2019

Namrata Raj (Fifth Year Learner), Swati Dixit (Fourth Year Learner) and Sudiksha Gupta (Third Year Learner) entered into the competition and were adjudged First Runners-Up. The team also won Best Med-Arb Team Award. The team also won cash prize.

CCI-NLUD Competition Law Moot, 2019: Organised by National Law School, Delhi in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India - March 8-10, 2019

Shavika Gupta (Fourth Year Learner), Rishabh Uppal and Balram (Second Year Learners) participated alongside 19 other teams after clearing the 'Memorial Selection Round' in this national-level competition based on competition law, and were adjudged Semi-Finalists.

23rd All India Moot Court Competition - 2019: Organised by University Law College, Bangalore University at Bengaluru - March 1-3, 2019

Shruti (Fourth Year Learner), Aaditya Mishra (Third Year Learner) and Harshil Wason (Second Year Learner) entered the competition after qualifying in the Memorial Selection Round and were adjudged Semi-Finalists. A total of 28 teams qualified for Oral Rounds in the 23rd edition of this national level competition where the moot proposition was based on constitutional law, specifically rights of LGBT community and legalization of prostitution.

7th RMLNLU - SCC Online International Media Law Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Dr. RML National Law University, Lucknow & SCC Online at Lucknow from March 1-3, 2019

Mohammad Ahzam Shaikh, Purnima Mathur (Third Year Learners) and Oshi Verma (Second Year Learner) entered the competition and were adjudged Semi-Finalists. A total of 33 teams participated in this national level competition where the moot compromis was based on data privacy and right to be forgotten was to be argued before the International Court of Justice.

4th Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon SAARCLAW Mooting Competition (International/SAARC Round) 2018-19: Organised by Lloyd Law College in collaboration with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) and Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) at Greater Noida – February 15-17, 2019

Neha Thirani, Aditi Bhargava and Sudiksha Gupta (Third Year Learners) were selected from India alongside 6 other teams to the SAARC Rounds. The team was adjudged Winners at the International Round upon competing with 19 teams from Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The moot proposition was based on issues relating to ‘Climate Refugees’.

9th K.R. Ramamani Memorial Taxation National Moot, 2019: Organised by Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University at Chennai - February 8-10, 2019

Ishita Thakur (Third Year Learner), Arif Mustafa Hussain, and Priyam Bhatnagar (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition based on taxation law and were adjudged Quarter-Finalist. One of the pleaders, Arif Hussain, received special mention from the judges in the competition.

17th Surana & Surana JSS Law College Corporate Law Moot and Judgement Writing Competition, 2019: Organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys & JSS Law College at Mysuru - February 8-10, 2019

Mudrika Purohit, Aniket Patni (Third Year Learners) and Utkarsh Tyagi participated in the competition based on corporate law and won the Third Best Memorial Award. Mudrika also won the Third Best Student Advocate Award.

19th All India Moot Court Competition for the Adv. T.S. Venkateswara Iyer Memorial Everrolling Trophy: Organised by Government Law College, Ernakulum - January 25-27, 2019

Akshita Upadhyay (Fourth Year Learner), Ashabari Basu Thakur and Chirag Hasija (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition alongside 24 other national teams and secured third position. The moot proposition was based on the issue of entry of women devotees at the Sabrimala Temple.

Shri I.M. Nanavati Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Gujarat Law Society's GLS Law College, Ahmedabad - January 18-20, 2019

Devanshi Rungta, Anvi Jha and Shrishti Vatsa (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition and were adjudged as Winners. The winning team won INR 2,25,000/- (two lacs twenty-five thousand rupees) alongwith a trophy and first position certificates. 32 teams participated in the competition including CNLU and RMLNLU.

Our team defeated School of Excellence, Chennai in quarter-final round, Shastra University in semi-final round and CHRIST University in the Final Round. The moot problem was based on traditional knowledge and Biodiversity Act specifically access and benefit sharing regime for India.

As a matter of policy, the law school does not keep any portion of the cash prize received by Mooters. This time as well, the team received the entire amount after deduction of Tax at source.

Advocate Sri M.P. Govindan Nambiar Memorial 2nd All India Moot Court Competition, 2019: Organised by Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry – January 4-6, 2019

Ms. Diksha Joshi, Ms. Sanjri Rakesh Misri and Mr. Gaurav Goyal (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition, entered into finals and were adjudged Runners-Up. They won a trophy and a cash prize of INR 30,000/-. The moot problem was based on constitutional issues relating to appointment of Lokpal and Lok-Ayuktas in Union Territories.


2nd Surana & Surana and RGNUL International Law Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by Surana and Surana International Attorneys and Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala – November 16-18, 2018

Mr. Lashit Sharma, Ms. Namrata Raj (Fifth Year Learners) and Ms. Mudrika Purohit (Third Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjuged Quarter-finalists. The team also won the 4th Best Memorial Award.

18th Kerala Law Academy National Client Consultation Competition, 2018: Organised by Kerala Law Academy, Thiruvananthapuram – November 8-11, 2018

Mr. Arif Mustafa Hussain (Second Year Learner) and Ms. Ishita Thakur (Third Year Learner) participated in the competition, entered into finals and were adjudged Runners-Up.

The competition problems were varied at each stage ranging from the Law of Contract, Torts, Domestic Violence and Copyright.

2nd Surana & Surana & UILS National Environment Law Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by the Surana and Surana International Attorneys and University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh – November 2-4, 2018

Mr. Kumar Karan (Fourth Year Learner), Ms. Sanjri Misri and Mr. Arjun Sahni (Second Year Learners) entered into the semi-finals of the competition and were adjudged 4th Best Team.

The moot proposition was based on E-waste and Right to live in healthy environment. The competition witnessed participation from 24 teams across India.

4th Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon SAARCLAW Mooting Competition (India Round) 2018-19: Organised by Lloyd Law College in collaboration with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) and Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) at Greater Noida - October 26-28, 2018

Ms. Neha Thirani, Ms. Aditi Bhargava and Ms. Sudiksha Gupta (Third Year Learners) participated in the competition and were adjudged as one of the seven teams to represent India in the SAARC Round of the 4th Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon SAARCLAW Mooting Competition, Law Students' Conference and Colloquium to be organised from February 15-18, 2019.

Teams from SAARC Countries will contest in SAARC rounds. This is second consecutive entry in the SAARC Rounds by Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA of the said Competition.

5th VIPS International Law Moot Court Competition: Organized by Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Law School, Delhi – October 12-14, 2018.

Mr. Shourajeet Chakravarty (Fifth Year Learner), Mr. Aman Chachan and Mr. Nipun Dave (Fourth Year Learners) participated, entered into the competition and were declared Semi-Finalists of the competition.

The problem was based on international law with elements of International Refugee Law, International Customary Laws and General Principles.

8th Amity International Moot Court Competition, 2018 (4th Paperless Moot): Organized by Amity Law School, NOIDA, Amity University Uttar Pradesh - October 12-13, 2018

Ms. Shavika Gupta (Fourth Year Learner), Mr. Shubham Bajpai and Ms. Anisha Mishra (Third Year Learners) participated in the competition, entered into finals and were adjudged as Winners.

24 teams participated in the competition which was based on entrenched principles of International Refugee Law, International Humanitarian Law and International Customary Laws and General Principles.

The team won a trophy and also received a cash prize of INR 15,000/.

12th Pro Bono Enviro National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University at Chennai - October 5-7, 2018

Ms. Shristi Borthakur, Ms. Meerika Bareja (Third Year Learners) and Mr. Vaibhav Jeswani (Second Year Learner) participated and entered into the finals of the competition and were adjudged as Runners-Up. Mr. Vaibhav Jeswani also won Best Researcher Award.

Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition, 2018 – India North Round: Organized by Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai and The Law School, University of Jammu at Jammu - October 5-7, 2018

Mr. Manthan Dixit (Fourth Year Learner), Mr. Aaditya Mishra (Third Year Learner), Ms. Ashabari Basu Thakur and Mr. Utkarsh Tyagi (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition, entered into the finals and were adjudged Runners-Up.

The criminal law competition was based on the Sessions Trial format with participants conducting chief- as well as cross-examination of witnesses. A total of 20 law schools participated in the North Round.

3rd National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University at Dehradun - October 5-7, 2018

Ms. Jheel Bhargava, Ms. Sargun Kaur Sahni (Third Year Learners) and Mr. Aman Shankar (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged Semi-Finalists.

The moot proposition was based on constitutional law on the issue of reservation for women in the Parliament. 32 teams nationally qualified to participate in the pleading rounds upon a memorial selection round.

7th Prof. V.S. Mani Memorial International Law Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by Seedling School of Law & Governance, Jaipur National University at Jaipur - October 5-7, 2018

Ms. Sapna, Ms. Swati Dixit (Fourth Year Learners) and Ms. Amrita Dubey (Third Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged Quarter-Finalists.

The moot proposition was based on violations of International Humanitarian Law and Customary International Law invoking jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice.

4th Manipal Ranka National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by School of Law, Manipal University alongwith Ranka Public Charitable Trust at Jaipur – September 29-October 1, 2018

Ms. Akshita Upadhya, Ms. Shivleen Pasricha (Fourth Year Learners) and Ms. Sanya Gangar (Third Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged Runners-Up in the competition. The team won Runner-up trophy as well as prize money of INR 7,000/-

77 teams nationally participated in this competition where the moot proposition was based on Constitutional Law, particularly the issue of Uniform Civil Code.

3rd Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad’s National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organized by Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) at Hyderabad – September 28-30, 2018

Mr. Priyam Bhatnagar, Mr. Rishabh Uppal and Ms. Devanshi Rungta (Second Year Learners) participated in the competition and were adjudged 2nd Runners-Up. The team also won the Best Memorial Award with prize money of INR 10,000/-. Additionally, Mr. Rishabh Uppal won Best Speaker Award and prize money of INR 10,000/-.

60 teams registered from various law schools in India for the competition and 30 teams were selected in the Memorial Round. The Moot Problem was based on laws relating to Informational Technology.

1st Galgotias University National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by The School of Law, Galgotias University at Greater Noida – September 28-29, 2018

Ms. Diksha Joshi, Ms. Oshi Verma and Mr. Gaurav Goyal (Second Year Learners) participated and were adjudged Semi-Finalists in the competition. Ms. Diksha Joshi was also awarded Best Speaker Award in the competition and received the Prize money of INR 7,000/-.

The moot problem was based upon the important debate regarding access to creations versus their legal protection. The competition was conducted in paperless format.

25th M.C. Chagla Memorial Government Law College National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organized by Government Law College, Mumbai, in collaboration with the Chief Justice M.C. Chagla Memorial Trust at Mumbai – September 22-23, 2018

Mr. Raghav Dembla, Ms. Shruti (Fourth Year Learners) and Ms. Astu Khandelwal (Third Year Learner) participated in the competition and were adjudged Semi-Finalists. The team also won the Best Memorial Award, a trophy as well as prize money INR 2,000/-.

16 teams, including those from national law schools, participated in the oral rounds. The moot problem was based on constitutional law.

Mr. Anurag P. Iyer, Ms. Aiyushi Sahani (Third Year Learners) and Mr. Varun Madan (Second Year Learner) participated in the competition, entered into the final round and were adjudged Winners. The team also won Best Memorial (Claimant) Award, trophy and prize money of INR 50,000/-. Additionally, Ms. Aiyushi Sahani won the Best Speaker Award.

The aim of the competition was to create awareness on the law of International Investments and facilitate the evolution of investment law through the jurisprudential and comparative analysis of the existing law and the consequential emergence of new laws.

18th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2018 (India Round): Organized by The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at New Delhi – September 13-16, 2018

Ms. Paridhi Nahata, Mr. Mathew Thomas and Mr. Aniket Patni (Third Year Learners) participated in the competition and entered into the Quarter-finals of the India Rounds. The moot proposition was based on issues relating to International Humanitarian Law before the International Court of Justice.

The principal objective of the competition is to develop an increased awareness and interest in IHL in academic institutions throughout South Asia. A further objective is to use IHL to further academic excellence in the student community, and to develop their advocacy skills in an environment of friendly competition.

8th ILNU National Moot Court Competition, 2018: Organised by Institute of Law, Nirma University in association with the Competition Commission of India at Ahmedabad - August 31 - September 2, 2018

Ms. Shristi Borthakur, Ms. Meerika Bareja (Third Year Learners) and Mr. Vaibhav Jeswani (Second Year Learner) participated and entered into the finals of the competition and were adjudged as Winners.

The moot proposition was based on competition law and a total of 24 teams across India including several national law schools, participated in this national level competition. Team Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA won shield as well as prize money Rs. 40,000/- and an internship opportunity with Gaggar & Associates.

Mr. Varun Kalway, Mr. Aayush Shankar (Third Year Learners), Mr. Aniket Patni and Mr. Anmol Sehgal (Second Year Learners) has been adjudged to be ‘One of the Best Five Teams’ to represent India in The SAARC Rounds of Third Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon SAARC Mooting Competition, 2018 scheduled in February 2018. 40 teams from across India participated in the National rounds.

The International Rounds will see participation from eight SAARC Nations, i.e., India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

In total 38 teams from India participated in the said competition.

In total 32 teams from India participated in the said competition. Above all they also secured same marks with respect to Memorial with the team, which won and shared the Best Memorial Award.

Symbiosis Law School represented by Ms. Nayanika Ruia, Mr. Akshay Paruthi and Ms. Neha Mishra, Third Year Learners, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA won the ‘Best Memorial’ award at 8th GNLU International Moot Court Competition, 2016.

In total 42 teams from India and Abroad (Australia, USA, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Nepal, Indonesia etc.) participated in the said event. Team SLS NOIDA won both the rounds in prelims and made it to the Quarterfinals.

Above all SLS-NOIDA’s memorial so submitted as part of the selection process was Ranked 1 in Asia-Pacific UN Region, which they took to the next level…Best Memorial In the World…

The annual Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, held in honour of Mr. Nelson Mandela, was first held in 2009 at the University of Pretoria and is hosted by the Centre for Human Rights with support from various donors. Held over a four-day period, it brings together undergraduate law students from all over the world, who argue a hypothetical human rights problem. 100+ teams all over the world register, 25 teams amongst them (5 from each UN Region) on the basis of memorial submission are selected to participate in the World Rounds, 2 teams progress to final round and one becomes world champion.

This year the 7th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition was held from December 8 – 10, 2015 at the OHCHR headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in collaboration with the Regional Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Southern Africa (ROSA) and OHCHR, Geneva.

The gap between the Winners and Runner Up was just ‘One’ mark.

Mr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya won the ‘Best Student Advocate’ Award in the Competition wherein 34 Teams from India and abroad participated.

Ms. Shalini Panigrahi and Mr. Shashank were also adjudged as ‘First Best Speaker’ and ‘Second Best Speaker’ respectively in the said competition. Ms. Shalini also is honoured with an internship with sitting Judge, High Court of Delhi.

Ms. Priya Agarwal was adjudged the ‘Best Speaker’ of the said Competition. Above all, it is there second Winners Trophy in consecutive two attempts.

They broken through the prelims, sweeping two consecutive wins (from both respondent and complainant) while also ensuring that their scores were high enough to get us into the quarters. Out of 48, 15 teams had two wins but only those with the highest marks were included in the top 8 for entering the quarters and Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA was one amongst them.

C. Chagla Memorial Government Law College National Moot Court Competition 2014 organised by Government Law College, Mumbai and Chief Justice M. C. Chagla Memorial Trust on January 11-12, 2014 and are declared ‘Runner Up’. In addition to this achievement, Ms. Jayashree Parihar also won the ‘Third Best Advocate’ prize.

Interestingly, last year as well SLS NOIDA team entered into the finals. Hope to make better next time to be ‘Top Two’ amongst the participating teams.

Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA represented by Team consisting of Mr. Harshit Manaktala, Mr. Ananya Pratap Singh and Mr. Sankalp Singh, Third Year Learners, reached the final and declared ‘Runner Up’ in Pratibimb National Law Fest- Moot Court Competition 2013 organised by Barkatullah University, Bhopal on November 26-27, 2013.

Importantly, it was their First ever national or international moot court.

Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, represented by Ms. Jasmine Mallick, Ms. Shambhavi Shukla and Mr. Arihant Jain, Third Year Learners, participated in 13th Raj Anand IP Moot Court Competition, 2013 organised by Anand and Anand in association with Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA. They were adjudged amongst the four best teams participating in the Competition. As we were coorganisers, team did not go to Semi Finals rather opportunity was given to the next team in order of merit. Further the team received rave views for its memorial.

We are further delighted to inform you that Ms. Jasmine Mallick missed the top spot of ‘Best Speaker’ just by one mark. Many may not know that it was Ms. Jasmine’s first moot court competition.

Ms. Arshiya Mehta, Ms. Rhea Srivastava and Ms. Gaurika Mohan, Second Year Learners, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA entered into the Semi Finals of the National Moot Court Competition 2013 on International Trade Law organized by Amity Law School, Noida during March 14-16, 2013. Above all, Ms. Arshiya Mehta was judged ‘the Best Female Advocate’ in the said competition. Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, 2012 (June 2012)

This year 61 teams from the four regions namely, North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa registered for the 2012 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition. The regional champions at the World Finals would compete in October in Naples, Italy.

The structure of the competition for the Asia-Pacific Regional rounds includes two-tiers in the competition i.e. memorial round and Oral round. As per the plan for 2012, after memorial round, total number of teams for oral rounds from the Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds is limited to 18 and not more than forty percent of the total number of teams selected for the oral rounds can be from one country i.e. maximum of 8 teams from India. One of the eight teams is Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA represented by Ms. Jaishree Parihar, Mr. Pooja Vohra and Mr. Mikhil Vij, First Year Learners from Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA. SLS, NOIDA came amongst top 13 in Asia Pacific at the end of oral rounds.
