Interaction with Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI): December 13, 2017


Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI), established in 2009, is the dedicated department of Symbiosis International(Deemed University) for promoting and facilitating research among students and faculty. Through its academic and administrative services, SCRI enables researchers to achieve excellence in their work, and eventually, translates SI(DU)’s vision of creation of knowledge for the benefit of the Society into reality.

Research and Publication Cell, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA proudly presents ‘Interaction with SCRI’ on December 13, 2017 from 01:00pm – 04:00pm.

It is a proactive initiative of SCRI to interact with the Faculty members of the institutes in each campus. This two-three hours interaction will focus mainly to resolve issues and develop an understanding among the Faculty members about the importance of research and the role of SCRI as an "academic and intellectual support" to them.The new initiatives of SCRI will also be informed.

Dr. Urvashi Rathod, Director - Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI)

Dr. Urvashi Rathod is a Professor with the academic and research focus on Software Engineering and Project Management. She is a Doctorate from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. She has been in IT industry for about twenty eight years with an entrepreneurial stint of eight years in Software Development. She has published research papers in high impact factor journals of Elsevier, Emerald and Springer.

Dr. Urvashi has been a recipient of research grants from international organizations like IBM and PMI, USA. She is on Editorial Boards of the journals that are indexed in Scopus. She has been a regular reviewer and Program Committee member of international research conferences of repute and has chaired international research conferences held in India. She has been collaborating with the researchers from the universities in USA and UK. She has given research consultancy to industry. Her leadership and research excellence in the field of software engineering and project management has been recognized by the forums including Society for Reliability Engineering, Quality and Operations Management (SREQOM). Two students have completed their Doctorate under her guidance and other three are pursuing Ph.D. under her. She has been a resource person to Ph.D. programmes to several institutions. Her teaching experience is of 20 years including 4 years in professional programmes and 16 years in Post Graduate programmes. She had been associated with IIM Indore for about five years in the capacity of Academic Fellow. She teaches courses like IT Strategy, Technology Management, Software Engineering, Project Management, Software Estimation and others related to Software Engineering and IT in Business. She has received accolades for teaching and research from the learners and authorities all across her career.

Dr. Yogesh Patil, Professor & Head – Research Publications

Dr. Yogesh Patil is currently Professor and Head – Research & Publications at the Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI), Symbiosis International (Deemed University) , Pune, India. Hel did his doctorate research work at the Division of Microbial Sciences, MACS Agharkar Research Institute (DST Funded), Pune, India and obtained his PhD from University of Pune, Pune. He has qualified GATE as well as UGC-NET.

After completing his PhD, for a short stint Dr. Yogesh was at Abeda Inamdar Senior Science College for Girls, Pune, after which he joined in the PG Dept. of Environmental Management, Chh. Shahu Institute of Business Education and Research, Kolhapur and undertook many research projects. In 2010, he joined at Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) as an Associate Professor in the Department of Energy & Environment Management.

Dr. Patil has over seventeen years of post-graduate teaching and research experience in the area of Environmental Science, Management & Technology and has taught wide range of subjects/courses. His scholarly interest and area of expertise include - waste resource management, bioremediation, sustainability, climate change mitigation and industrial ecology. More specifically, his research focus spans in the area of biodetoxification of toxic and hazardous materials, bioreduction, biosorption of toxic and precious metal complexes using active and passive microorganisms/biomass, resource recovery from waste, life cycle assessment, water and wastewater quality, solid waste, e-waste management and developing sustainable waste management strategies and models.

Dr. Yogesh has published over 50 research papers and chapters in national and international journals indexed in Scopus, SCI, etc. and books with reputed publishers like Springer, Peter Lang, etc., and has also published two edited books namely, Applied Bioremediation – Active and Passive Approaches (InTech, Croatia) and Reconsidering the Impact of Climate Change on Global Water Supply, Use, and Management (IGI Global, USA). As a guest editor, Dr. Patil has also published three special issues of Elsevier journal and has also filed three patents. Dr. Patil has undertaken several research/consultancy projects funded by UGC, International Foundation for Science (IFS), Sweden & Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW – Nobel Peace Prize in 2013), The Netherlands, World Bank and PMC. He is recipient of several honors/fellowship awards like DST-JRF, CSIR-SRF, Best PhD Research Award, UGC-Post Doctoral Fellowship to name a few. He is a reviewer for several journals indexed in Scopus and SCI. He likes to work in interdisciplinary areas which cut across science, technology and management.
