Dr. Madhuker Sharma

Dr. Madhuker Sharma did B.A. [Hons.] English in the year 1996 from University of Delhi. He did Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in the year 2000 from C.C.S. University, Meerut. He then went on to pursue LL.M. and completed the same in the year 2002 from C.C.S. University, Meerut. He has completed Ph.D. in 2008 from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. The topic of his Ph.D. research work was “A Socio-Legal Study on Rights of A Girl Child in India”.

Before joining the teaching profession, he was serving with Government of India with work profile of administrative duties; during those years, he also used to teach at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and at J.I.M.S., Rohini, Delhi as visiting faculty.

His areas of interest is ‘empirical research in criminal law’, ‘criminology’, ‘criminal procedure’, and ‘right to information laws’. He has research experience of more than five years wherein he has conducted & completed research work on various socio-legal issues, like, ‘social disparity with women’, ‘support system at old-age homes’, and core criminal law issues, like, ‘juvenile delinquency’, ‘environment related criminal laws’, & ‘wildlife criminal laws’.

  • Completed Research Project on Juvenile Delinquency, title of the project: “A Study on Efficacy of Enhanced/Increased Age Prescription for Male Child under Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2000”; (report was released by Honb’le Justice Dr. Arijit Pasayat (Retd.), JudgeSupreme Court of India on 6th April, 2013) (The above said ‘report’ was submitted before the Hon’ble Bench of Supreme Court in a case titled as Dr. Subramaniam Swamy & Ors. v. Raju, through Juvenile Justice Board, Crl.M. no. 1953 of 2013,; the ‘report’ was considered and mentioned by the Hon’ble Bench in its judgement delivered on 28th March, 2014)
  • Completed ‘research project’, titled as “An Empirical Study on Implementation of Wildlife Laws in India”.
    Final Report was released by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shiva Kirti Singh (Judge – Supreme Court of India) on 8th October, 2016.  This project work was carried at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA with eight Research Associates. Interim Report of the project was released in August, 2015; and the final report was released on above stated date. 
  • Completed ‘research project’, titled as “An Empirical Study on Working Conditions at Old-Age Homes in Delhi-NCR”.
    The Final Report is in publication stage and it will be released in March, 2017.  This project work was carried at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA with four Research Associates.
  • Working upon ‘research project’, titled as “Contribution of Judicial Mechanism in Facilitating Access to Justice to Victim and the Accused”.
    This project work is being carried at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA with four Research Associates.
  • Working upon ‘Research Project’, titled as Evaluating the Objective & the Objectivity of Capital Punishment in Criminal Justice System”.
    This project work is being carried at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA with ten Research Associates.
  • Working upon ‘research study’ on “Power of the President & the Governor to Grant Pardon/Reprieve – An Empirical Study on Practice” (data is being collected from eighteencentral prisons from the State of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Kerala and Delhi on number of relevant cases)
