Mr. Saiprasad RG

After obtaining his undergraduate degree in law from Karnataka University (Dharwad), Saiprasad went on to pursue his studies in human rights law at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore from where he specialised in the subject and received an LL.M. Following this Saiprasad was associated with several Indian Civil society groups in various capacities. Saiprasad qualified the UGC-NET in 2013. Before joining SLS Noida Saiprasad was Faculty of Law at Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Vizag.

Over the years Saiprasad has contributed to the following areas of research:

  • Law and Pedagogy
  • Law, Public Policy & Civil Society
  • Child Rights (Law and Practice)
  • Critical review of Panchayati Raj Legislation and analysis of case law; The 73rd Constitutional Amendment; member of the research team on a joint UNDP-Government of India project
  • Civil society initiatives and creating research programs specifically directed at issues of conflict, peace building and reconciliation through civil society platforms in the North East and J&K
  • Research and compilation of data on the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, and other extra-ordinary legislation applicable to the North East and Kashmir

Besides the research activities Saiprasad has been engaged in campaign efforts of the following:

  • Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD)
  • International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal
  • Women against Militarization Campaign
  • Rapporteur for the Conference on Conflict in Sri Lanka organized by The Other Media, between February to March 2009, Delhi.

His areas of interest are international law/practice and theory, human rights law/practice and theory, feminist theory/ jurisprudence, public law /theory, law and anthropology, culture and law, law and political sociology etc.
