Ms. Saumya Mishra

She has graduated in Sociology  from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi in the year 2007. She then pursued her Masters in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics (2009). She Received National Scholarship For Post Graduate Students (Government of India) from Delhi School Of Economics (2007-2009) and Lok Mangal Puraskaar For Social Service in Lady Shri Ram College in 2007. She was the highest scorer in M.A. (Diploma) - Gender and Society organized by The National Commission Of Women in Women Studies And Development. Centre, University Of Delhi in 2009. She has worked as a Program Officer for Ford Foundation Project with Sampradaan Indian Centre for Philanthropy, July 2010 - till present. She has coordinated Feasibility Study on Community Foundation In India. She is responsible for the initiation of a need assessment study for SOS children’s Villages of India for Vocational Training among the marginalized in Delhi slums. She has worked on Media advocacy project on Right to Education with UNESCO.

She has also been a Research Associate with the Central Information Commission (Government Of India) on The Right to Information Act, 2005, May 2010 - June 2010. She has been a Research analyst for project- SAMARTHYA, CSR venture of Yamaha Motors Solution Ltd, January 2010- May 2010. She is also a member of N.G.O Jagriti (Operational area – Uttar Pradesh): May 2009-till present.

Projects Undertaken

  • Member of the organizational committee and analyst for The International Seminar on Gender Issues organized by Ministry of Women & Child Development at Women Studies And Development Centre, University Of Delhi in 2009
  • Conducted social surveys and focus group discussions for Stri Shakti Sangathan, at the University of Delhi in 2009.
  • Conducted field work in Amritsar, Punjab on ‘Equality of Sikh Woman in Gurudwara – Ideology and Practice’ in 2007.
  • Made a case study of 'Leather Industries and their Social Structure' in Kanpur from 2008 to 2009.
  • Research associate with the N.G.O. Shramik Bharti on a project on ‘Sustainability of Project Sanjivani on Safe Motherhood’ in Kanpur Dehat from 2007 to 2008.                                                                                                                                                                                   
  • Was a member of the N.G.O. Steps for Change and the N.G.O. Muskaan from 2005 to 2007. Was appointed as Project Head for Muskaan in Lady Shri Ram College from 2005-2006.
  • Was a member of the cultural committee in India Social Forum in 2006 .
  • Did voluntary work with the U.N.D.P. A.I.D.S. programme, CHARCA in Kanpur in 2006.
  • Did a project on ‘Domestic Violence and H.I.V. A.I.D.S.’ under the N.G.O. Award in Kanpur in 2006.
