Campus Life

A wise man once said: “The greatest journeys in life begin with the smallest steps”. My journey of lifetime began with a small step through the gates of Symbiosis Law School, Noida and it is that very short step that, I am sure, will prove to be the greatest and the wisest, as it leads me through the doors of an extra-ordinary institution in which my discovery of self-realization and self-development begins!!

Today I am faced with the hard task of writing the most difficult speech I ever had to write. What makes it difficult is that I have to express, what to me, is inexpressible- the love, the pride, the gratitude and the appreciation that I feel towards my institute and the people who welcomed us juniors with open arms and warm smiles.

People often say that when God wishes to bless us, he does not send us unlimited riches, rather sends wonderful people into our lives! Today it is my honour to thank all those who made the very first day of college as well as the freshers’ bash, the most unforgettable days of my life.

The excitement for the party began a week before when we were made aware of the same. The theme fascinated us even more. It demanded mingling with my wardrobe and coming up with a ‘mis-matched’ outfit.

So the Sun of the 9th morning, brought with its rays a lot of excitement and zeal. There arose a peculiar feeling while dressing up in an entirely different attire, but the feeling just vanished when we entered our college. Seeing everybody dressed the way I was, took the enthusiasm to a totally different level. I could not wait anymore and just waited for the clock to strike 10 so that the function would commence.

The enactment of the play, ‘Silence! The Court is in Session’, the singing, the dancing, and the playing of various instruments kept all of us engrossed. The ice-breaking session, which was a small effort by the juniors to express their happiness and indebtness, gave us relief when we saw our seniors smiling wide and enjoying our performances. Neither were we tired and nor did the party end here. Our Director Sir graced the occasion with his words mixed up with wonderful songs, perfectly suiting the occasion. And then came the phase we all had been waiting for, dancing! “We want music! We want music” was being shouted all over since we could not wait any longer. We all just wished that the day doesn’t come to an end.

All those moments are still fresh in my mind. A heartfelt gratitude to the faculty and seniors of SLS, Noida for such an experience of a lifetime. And I am sure it’s not only for me but for all those who are and will be a part of this family.

I behold that you will take from my speech these words and remember them always as we continue through college,

For all the saddest words of tongue and pen,
the saddest are these, “ It might have been”
